Diagnostic imaging tests are a part of nearly every report transcribed by a medical transcriptionist. This area of diagnostic testing plays a crucial role in medical decision making, and each test has a set of terminology, abbreviations, and descriptions all its own. To ensure that information pertaining to these tests is accurately transcribed into a patient’s medical record, a transcriptionist must have a thorough understanding of the purpose of each test, as well as the testing process and the terminology used to describe the results. This 4-week self-study course entails online learning via recorded webinars, weekly outlines, exercises, and transcription reports; and a final exam. Educational topics include transmission and reflection imaging, emission imaging and nuclear medicine studies, and interventional radiology and radiation oncology. This course is preapproved by AHDI for 10 CM CECs.
